Getting to Santa Elana, Costa Rica

Participants will fly into the San Jose, Costa Rica airport on December 28th, 2025, and stay one night at a gorgeous hotel near the airport. We will be procuring a discounted group rate to be shared with each participant. We will provide transportation to / from the retreat via group shuttles that leave on the morning of the 6th for our retreat destination. Please do not book your plane travel until after your application has been accepted, thank you!

Schedule

DAY 1 (December 28th) - Arrival at any time during the day or evening in San Jose, Costa Rica. We have reserved a block of rooms in a local lovely hotel (not included in retreat cost), but you can stay anywhere you choose in the San Jose vicinity. The shuttle to the retreat location will leave at 730 am the next morning at our selected hotel.

DAY 2 (December 29th) - Arrival and acclimation to our heavenly tropical location. We will connect with the land, ask permission for the local spirits to work with us, and set our intentions for our experience, as well as get to know each other a bit. Ceremony facilitators will talk through the Ayahuasca process with the group; we will get to know each other, share our intentions, and then the maestros will open each participant's dieta in a mini-ceremony (no Ayahuasca the first evening so we can ground in and connect with our Master Plants.)

DAY 3 (December 30th) - After a delicious breakfast, the day will also include flower baths, the first Temazcal ceremony and waterfall hike, talking circles to lay the groundwork for the first Ayahuasca ceremony, and a healthy, grounding lunch. We will then do one on one interviews with each participant, and have the first ceremony that evening.

DAY 4 (December 31st) - After breakfast we will offer Flower Baths, nature walks, massages, and some down time to integrate the ceremony experience. After lunch, we will meet for an integration circle and start giving language to what is transpiring in the healing portal. We will then have interviews and dive into the second Ayahuasca ceremony, in celebration of the New Year!

DAY 5 (January 1st) - The second Temezcal/Waterfall walk happens in the AM post-breakfast, then we will have a big supportive lunch, flower baths, and time for massages and rest. That night we will have a new year’s feast, and plant some seeds for our new year that evening.

DAY 6 (January 2nd) - NOBLE SILENCE DAY - This day is all above a profound connection to our Master Plants. We will awake and honor noble silence all day - have a quiet contemplative morning, eat our two meals in silence, enjoy meditative flower baths, and prepare for the final Ayahuasca ceremony that evening. At the end of the ceremony, we will break Noble Silence by inviting everyone to sing the Icaro we learned the day before. A bon fire will gather all those who wish to use their voices so we can talk about what's been transpiring.

DAY 7 (January 3rd) - The last day in the dieta portals, participants will have lots of time to connect with the land and their master plants. We will have two powerful integration workshops, 3 organic meals, and we will close each dieta portal throughout the day.

DAY 8 (January 4th) - Our last full day as a tribe will be spent in celebration; after a light breakfast we will connect with Mama Cacao in an authentic ceremony portal, as well as an afternoon tree planting ceremony to give back to the beautiful land. We will also have a big feast and fireside connection with music and laughter that evening.

DAY 9 (January 5th) - We will enjoy breakfast together one last time and hop on our early morning shuttles to the San Jose airport. Flights leaving early afternoon from 2:30 pm on are recommended.

Retreat Facilitators

We will have multiple deeply compassionate and trauma-informed shamanic guides and assistants, including PMP CEO and Head Coach Kat Courtney, with a small participant-to-staff ratio for intimacy, safety, and a deliciously deep healing.

The retreat price is all-inclusive outside of air travel, $250 in-person cash payment for plants (all are included in the single cash payment), and a single night stay at a hotel in San Jose.

More Testimonials From Past Retreats

“What an almost indescribably wonderful experience with what (mindful of this having been my first retreat of this kind!) must be the very best of people working within this space. I will never be the same, and I am so very grateful for that transformation. You will be, too!” - John R, Feb 2025 Participant

“Wow. It’s difficult to find the words to describe what a transformational week this was. Kat and the team absolutely exceeded my expectations with the beautiful container they created. They curated a beautiful team of assistants and body workers to facilitate deep ceremonies and provided us with the education and tools to integrate this experience into our lives. The retreat staff worked tirelessly to make sure each of us participants were taken care of. The massages and temezcal journeys were above and beyond as well. THE FOOD!! was amazing! What I loved about this retreat was the amount of structured activities and exercises there were for us to take part in if we chose to. They did an amazing job of curating the experience so that we really got close with our fellow participants and built a communal trust in one another. Other retreats I have been to were pretty unstructured, but with the activities and exercises they offered at this PMP retreat, I felt I was able to go deeper into the portal of a plant retreat. After having some challenging experiences in ceremony, the PMP team were right there, ready to help me with so much compassion and understanding. They met each of us on an individual level and tailored our experiences to meet our unique needs. I can’t say enough good things about this experience. THANK YOU PMP!!”

- Justine L, Feb 2025 participant

“I cannot say enough about my experience with The Plant Medicine People. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely safe, held, and supported. Kat and the entire team are truly authentic in their work, creating a space where I could fully be myself and express whatever needed to come through. Even in the moments of discomfort, I still felt comfortable—because I was so well taken care of in every way. The food was incredible, nourishing not just my body but my entire being. This experience was deeply transformative, and I am beyond grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love, care, and wisdom you pour into this work. I can’t wait to return.”

-Liz R, Feb 2025 participant

“This trip was life changing - I came to PMP in a cloud of darkness, not sure if I'd ever rediscover my light. I left knowing my true self, reestablishing my light, and with hope for the future regardless of what adversity I may face. The staff and service were incredible, the leaders were instrumental in creating a safe, trusting container where all were valued and respected. I would rate this as one of the most profound experiences I've had in my life and give thanks and gratitude to Kat, Laura - the entire staff - and all of the participants who welcomed, listened and accepted me. Thank you! “

- J.D.L., Jan 2024 participant

I was blown away by how beautifully the PMP team held a container for our plant medicine week. At every turn they were going above and beyond in taking care of the guests, it was an extraordinary amount of work, love, and attention they poured into us. Without doubt this was the most magical week of my life.”

- Jennifer S, Jan 2024 Participant

“What a beautiful experience! Kat and the other facilitators are so wise and knowledgeable about medicine and energy, and held a beautiful container for deep medicine work. The retreat center is perfect for the experience--delicious ceremony-appropriate food, nice accommodations, friendly staff, beautiful grounds, a river flowing through the site. I am grateful for everything about the trip. Thank you!

- Jodie N, Jan 2024 Participant

“We had a fabulous time. The retreat is very special: the quality of food, level of service, accommodation and resources were exceptional. The staff were always smiling while working hard around the clock and being of service to us, we are forever grateful to them. As for PMP, I have no words. Kat and her team are rockstars. They made this retreat very special, with their love, humility, service and affection. Thank you for all your work!”

- Seya R, Nov 2023 Participant

“I loved my retreat with Plant Medicine People! The accommodations were wonderful. Food was amazing. I felt safe and supported at all times. There were multiple leaders available for help, and the participants were all wonderful people I'm happy to have met. I'm not an experienced international traveller, but PMP made it easy. Book with confidence!”

- Sam T, Nov 2023 Participant

“From start to finish, the PMMS Retreat to Costa Rica was absolutely flawless! So organized and well thought out. The level of service from the transport, the staff at Kinkara and (of course) the facilitators of the retreat- was by far the best I’ve ever been held by such loving efforts.. The bar has been raised in my world! Can’t wait to work with them again one day.

- Lydia P, Nov 2023 Participant

“This was the bravest, most radical experience I have yet to encounter, but it was so badly needed for my continuing evolution in this lifetime. EVERYTHING was enriching and amazing! The leaders were candid and non-judgmental; always open to enhance our journey to its highest level. Ever attendee who joined in this experience was loving, kind and supportive. The grounds were tranquil and beautifully landscaped. The food was delicious, interesting and healthy. The staff was warm and accommodating. I pray for the forward movement that ALL can openly experience plant medicine without political or governmental interference. I’m certain there would be much less stress or fear in our world if we were free to allow the gifts from Mother Earth to heal our bodies, minds and souls. I am sending continued love, peace and joy to all those who travel along this path.”
